Morella treasures

Morella is approximately 180 km north of Valencia in Spain in the province of the medieval city of Castellón. There are some kultaisten cities around the world (Carcassonne France and Diyarbakir in Turkey are a classic that spring to mind), that connects the Morella refreshments. Morella approach, one can not help but imposing a massive walls and towers that protect the city impressed. Morella Castle sits proudly atop the Hill. It is an unforgettable sight.

We came to the city through the stunning Sant Miquel port with its Striking twin towers. I did not have much knowledge of the history of Morella, but walking through this port, it was clear that this strongly in the city was an important center of the distillation of centuries ago, that is, you've seen many a war. Our guide was quickly confirm this. Many of the ancient powers enabled this city stage; The Greeks and Carthaginians and the Romans and the Moors. City was marine Wars and during the Spanish civil war and helped shape the history of Spain.

Nowadays, the city is the place for buffets, which begs to see and examine the. do many things. Inside walls are on the streets, charming houses in the labyrinth of characteristic hanging balconies and a wide range of styles, for example, a Romanesque Gothic buildings lined with gorgeous.

As we walked along the cobblestone streets, the first thing I noticed was the gorgeous shops sell all kinds of local. Sausage varieties of olive oils, honey, cheese, wine and my absolute favorite, black truffles in the eyes of dozens of do my mouth water.I took the exploring the shops and the scents of dried meat and cheese savouring. Striking up a conversation with the owner of the Shop was easy enough (I speak Spanish but the food is a common language, isn't it? :-)) and I found myself switching from one tasting: Houses, honey, jam, cheese, truffle and olive oil. It was absolutely wonderful.

Soon, we found that Morella is true culinary paradise, which takes its inspiration, and a wide range of local employment development (led). Dishes that is particularly famous are the Morella ' ternasco ' (Lamb leg Morellan), gallina trufada (truffled hen!), "perdiu fi escabetx" (marinated Partridge) and different wild mushrooms. We stopped for lunch at Restaurante Casa Roque, lunch is easy to forget that! :-)

I did go forth upon the face of main street, Blasco de Alagón, along a lovely atmosphere and less than or equal to one of the city's oldest saturate. chatting at the same time, the coffee sat boisterously and cigar;ancient mukaisestitoimittajien showed off at the arcades beams, their days of the date on which the rickety wooden tables;and day trippers full of their bags-sausages, cheeses and wines.

Romanesque houses and historical buildings in the Ajuntament (Town Hall), such as the Gothic façades in particular finding. The elegant staircases has led to the up and down Blasco de Alagón, which offers a beautiful Castle Mountain or the article number below to view the Combined verdant Valley atop.

We've stepped monastery, Sant will continue, in order to achieve high over the Castle boasting bright OASIS overlooking the magnificent Gothic cloister.

The main road trip to progressively abolishes the Archpriest Church of Santa Maria la Major. [1] [2] This architecture has two portals and striking blue cupola. Once inside, I was completely bowled over by the impressive spiral staircase, church organ, and breathtaking views of the gold gilded change section.

-Archpriest Church several lanes of the wind on the way to continue up to the mountain Castle. it is the sharp climb but of the surrounding hills and valleys panorama is certainly reason to effort.

Morella is a good idea to strictly day-trip, along the coast or Valencia. If you visit Morella, make sure that you are going to be enough time for the meals of the many restaurants or experience the authentic Morellan food mesón.
